LNP To Train 50 MCC Policemen
The Director of Communications at the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), Pekeleh Gbuapaye, has disclosed that the MCC will shortly send 50 Monrovia City Police recruits to the Liberia National Police (LNP) Academy for professional training.
Speaking on a local radio talk show in Monrovia on Monday, Gbuapaye disclosed that the MCC has finalized arrangements with the LNP to train the first batch of 50 officers at the Police Academy so that they can render professional services to the City of Monrovia. He disclosed that the Monrovia City Police (MCP) officers, who are to be trained by the LNP, will comprise mostly unemployed youths in and around the city.
In recent days, there have been huge public outcries in Monrovia over the form and manner in which MCP officers go about raiding and seizing goods belonging to marketers selling on sidewalks.
When the training is completed, said Gbuapaye, the MCC will have a professional police force to maintain law and order in line with the City Ordinance.
