MCC Launches Presidential Special Charity Program
-As President Weah Challenges Liberians On Giving

The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) on Wednesday April 18, 2018 launched the Presidential Special Charity Fund Raising Program during which over US$ 333, 000 and LD$8.4 million was generated from the sale of President Weah’s photo.
Speaking at the program which took place at the Monrovia City Hall, the Chief launcher, President George Manneh. Weah challenged Liberians to give to the poor, an idea that is in support of his government’s Pro-Poor Agenda.“When you give to the poor you live again, and I hope that all of us will continue to interact in support of our Pro-Poor agenda,” said the Liberian leader, as he raised over US$100,000.from the sale of his own portrait and a stamp, in support of the Presidential Special Charity Program.
The program which was initiated by the Mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee, and supported by a cross-section of the Liberian business community, current and former government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and President Weah himself seeks to provide charitable medical, educational and other assistance to less fortunate Liberian children.
“I hope that funds realized from the program will meaningfully impact the lives of those the program targets”, he said.
The Liberian leader, who paid US$12,000 for his own picture, noted that this was the first time his portrait was being used for the purpose of providing charity to the needy, and lauded all who supported the initiative.
