PBA Command Pres. Weah

The President of the Paynesville Business Association (PBA) Mr. Sheik Yayah . Jalloh, commend the Liberian leader President George Weah for instructing the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) to accept the payment of taxes in Liberian Dollars and reduce bureaucracy in order to allow importers to be prompt in clearing their goods at port.
Speaking at the news Conference held Sunday April 29, 2018, at the head office in Paynesville City, “President George Weah as part of efforts to timely address the challenges faced by Liberian Importers immediately instructed the LRA to waive all fines imposed on importers for failing to comply with the set guidelines and regulations of the Liberia Revenue Authority” Jalloh said.“On Tuesday April 24, 2018, the President of the Republic of Liberia and key stakeholders in the business sector of our Country held a meeting with cross sections of business organizations most especially importers” .”During the meeting, series of concerns were raised by these business organizations which included; APM Terminal abrupt change in the number of days goods are kept in the Port (from Twenty one days to Five days), high storage charge , high bills levied by Custom officers, the payment of taxes in United States Dollars amongst others”.
He used the occasion to on behalf of the Paynesville Business Association appreciate Pres. weah his timely intervention, something which he claimed has brought great relief to the struggling importers of Liberia.
He noted that while they commend the President for his effort they also call on the government to put into place proper mechanisms to protect Liberian businesses, and to fully implement the Liberianazation policy which gives exclusive rights and preference to Liberian businesses.
“We strongly believed that when the Liberianazation policy is implemented, Liberians will be empowered to be on path with their foreign counterparts and control their own economic” He said.
