Student Joined Weah For Clean Cities Campaign
Several High school Students of Montserrado County under the banner ”High School Students Association” on Saturday joined the Monrovia City Corporation to launch the third Phase of the ” Weah for Clean Cities” Initiative.
The “Weah for Clean Cities ” Initiative was launched by the Monrovia City Government to promote cleanliness in every cities .
On every first Saturday residents of Monrovia and it’s surrounding areas remain home from 7: 00AM to 10:00AM to clean their environment, something which has extended to other Cities nationwide . Phase three of the ” Weah for Clean City ” was launched by Former Liberia Football Association President Musa Hassan Bility witnessed the full participation of Workers of MCC and over Five Hundred High school Students.
Both Workers of the Monrovia City Corporation and the Students were also involved in a vigorous awareness exercise; cautioning residents of Old Road to always keep their surroundings clean.
The Students involvement according to them was in appreciation of President George Weah contribution to their education by paying the WASSCE fees of every 12_ graders in Liberia.
They noted that the High school Students Association remains grateful to the President and will do everything possible to support the government Pro Poor agenda by meaningfully contributing to Liberia’ s growth through their volunteer services.
As part of the first Saturday cleanup to exercise, the Mayor of Monrovia Jefferson T Koijee also dedicated three latrines in the densely populated Township of West Point.
The latrines were renovated by Catholic Relief Services (CRS).
Mayor Koijee lauded CRS for renovating the three latrines which has been in deplorable conditions for several years.
According to Mayor Koijee, these latrines will greatly help the struggling residents of West Point.
He wants residents of West Point take full responsibility of consistently maintaining the cleanliness of these latrines.
In a related development, Mayor Jefferson Koijee has challenged Liberians to see Sports as one of the pivotal instruments to fast growth, job creation and lasting development in the Country.
According to him Sports is just not a unifying tool but very powerful instrument for transformation and reconciliation.
Mayor Koijee addressing Journalists ahead of the WAFU grand finals on Saturday against Gambia commended Chief patron of sports George Weah for providing $25,000usd to the team as a sign of motivation.
Though he did not play Football but Koijee noted that it is always good to support sports and young talents something he noted can add more flavor and encouragement to the players to do more.
As evidence of his motivation the young Mayor pledge 3,000 USD to the team .
He noted that Liberia has come a long way and with the leadership of President Weah he is certain that bigger things will happen for the people of this Country.
“It is time the mayor indicated that more support and attention be put to sports to the ensure Liberia produced more George Weah”, says the ruling party executive member.
