E.U Provides Support for LACRA
-As LACRA NOW Resumes Bong County Operations
Liberia’s longstanding partner, the European Union has pledged its full commitment to the Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA) in support ofthe institution’s efforts to improve the agricultural sector of the country.
The EU ambassador to Liberia H.E Helene Cave made the disclosure Friday, May, 4,2018 at the official launch of the Liberia Cocoa Sector Improvement Programme in Bong County where LACRA was invited to participate in the program. The program brought together officials of government including Agriculture Minister, Chairman on houses’ committee on agriculture and as well local officials in Bong County, local and international partners in the sector. The programme highlighted the support and facilities investments in professionalizing farmers through improved self organization, access to the use of inputs, skills in entrepreneurship and farm Development Planning and Management.
For his part, the acting Director General of LACRA, Hon. Musa Konneh commended the EU and also expressed the entity’s cooperation as it is the aim of LACRA to improve the sector to benefit the Country.
Meanwhile, the entity’s vision to expand an effective agriculture productivity in Liberia, Liberia Agriculture Commodity Regulatory Agency ( LACRA) set up a new management team at the entity facility in Bong County which would support local productivity in that part of the country.
This team, as part of its scope, will start full operation in the palm oil production and other agricultural commodities. If you may recall, the entity in this drive to impact local production, new Management of LACRA under the astute and visionary stewardship of Hon. Musa Konneh, Deputy for Operations, has embarked tours on the facilities of the entity in order to revamp the sector with an increased production of agricultural commodities.
LACRA in an ongoing assessment tour, has met several local farmers who have the desire to resuscitate the sector. While in Bong County, the acting Director General also encouraged citizens to focus on jobs that will be created in order to help the government to achieve it programs which will similarly involve local participation of the process. Hon. Konneh also used the occasion to admonish citizens of Bong and also expressed delight in their anxiety to transform the sector. He acknowledged the massive turnout of Bong citizens and promised to visit the
entity as part of his scope of operation.
