The Deputy Director General for Administration at the National Bureau of Concessions (NBC) Mr. Daddy Gibson has disclosed that a furious thunderstorm that swept across Monrovia at about 4:00Am on early Monday morning May7, 2018 has left 3 buildings in the compound of the NBC without roofs, zincs and other property damages.
Speaking to journalists at a news conference on Monday morning on behalf of the Director General of the entity Mr. Gregory Coleman, Mr. Gibson noted that the storm also inflicted property damages to the houses of neighbors outside their fence.According to Mr. Gibson, they have already launched an appeal for help to other relevant agencies such as the Liberia Disaster Managemnt relief Agency, the Red Cross and the Libverian government for possible assistance.
He said two of the main departments of the NBC, the human resource section and the concessions department and the house of their electrical generator were seriously affected, adding that the cost of the damage may be even higher than their estimates.
Mr. Gibson said the role of the National Bureau of Concessions is very strategic to the development of the country, and this is why being displaced until repair work is done is very painful to our fragile economy.
Asked if the owners of the building would help finance the damage, he said it will not be advisable for the to wait for them even though that is part of their contract or agreement.(John Momoh)
