MPW Plans Zero Tolerance For Zoning Violations
The Ministry of Public Works (MPW) will shortly institute robust measures aimed at effecting a zero-tolerance posture against violators of zoning regulations in the country.
MPW Communication Director Paul Kanneh said the Ministry will also take drastic action against those engaged in construction of buildings without obtaining the requisite permits from the Ministry.He made the disclosure Wednesday at his Public Works Ministry Office on Lynch Street in an interview with the Liberia News Agency.
Kanneh said the Ministry will demolish structures that are a being deliberately erected in alleys and waterways, describing the act as contrary to Liberia’s zoning regulations.
Kanneh said the MPW will institute proper city planning, bring sanity to communities by ensuring proper layout and work to ensure conducive and improved road network.
He said consistent with the policy of President George Manneh Weah, the Ministry will give priority to Liberian construction contractors and dedicate resources to the building of their capacity to enable them compete with foreign companies in the industry.
