African Academy of Languages to Meet in Liberia
The Technical and Scientific Committee of the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) will On Monday, July 2, 2018 host its first meeting in Monrovia at about 10: AM in the conference Room of the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism.The objective of the meeting is to discuss ACALAN’s advocacy for the implementation of the Revised Language Plan of Action for Africa (LPAA) and the identification of a national structure that will take care of language matters in member states of the African Union.
According to a press release from SEHWAH, the meeting will be attended by representatives from the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Ministry of Education, Linguistic Department of the University of Liberia, and the Bureau of Statistics. A local NGO, Sehwah, headed by Ms Louise McMillan Siaway is the Focal Point of ACALAN in Liberia.
Heading the ACALAN delegation to Liberia is Dr. Lang Fafa from the Republic of Mali. Dr. Fafa and his delegation will be in Liberia for one day, arriving on Sunday and departing on Monday after the meeting.
